Climate & the Environment

Washington’s natural beauty is part of who we are. It’s what made Chandler fall in love with this state. From clean water and mountain views to parks, forests, and shorelines, our nature is what defines our communities. Protecting that is a fundamental responsibility.

Climate change is no longer abstract or something to prevent. Nearly annual wildfire smoke keeps people indoors. Heat waves strain infrastructure. Flooding and shoreline erosion affect neighborhoods and businesses. We must pair long-term climate goals with practical, near-term resilience.

Chandler will do the following:

1. Accelerate the transition to clean energy by expanding renewable power, modernizing the electric grid, and supporting electrification and energy efficiency that lower both emissions and household costs.
2. Build climate-resilient communities by preparing infrastructure for wildfire smoke, extreme heat, flooding, drought, and shoreline erosion with resources targeted where risks are greatest.
3. Build climate solutions faster by streamlining permitting and eliminating unnecessary delays for clean-energy, transmission, housing, and transportation projects while maintaining strong environmental standards.
4. Protect the places that define Washington by safeguarding clean water, forests, parks, farmland, shorelines, and wildlife habitat for future generations.

Protecting our environment and growing our economy are not mutually exclusive. With thoughtful planning, we can, and must, build a future that is cleaner, more resilient, and more prosperous for the next generation.
